7th Grade Physical Education Overview

heart reate monitor baseball

Daily Quality Physical Education - We want you to be active, understand all your options and be lifelong physical movers!  We hope to create a physically educated person. We want you to learn 1) What is fitness? 2) How do you get fit?  And 3) How do you maintain fitness? All students will learn to hook up to heart rate monitors to see the effects of movement on their heart.  All students will know what different zones feel like- high cardio, low cardio and of course YOUR TARGET ZONE!

State of California says 7th graders will emphasis the use of skills in a variety of activities/ games building on their foundation from 6th grade.  Levers will increase through bats, hockey, and golf.  Students will create their own games as well as experience a variety of strategies and scoring systems.  Dance is continued through the grades and this level performs multi-cultural dances from around the world.  Students are introduced to our fitness center and learn to use all the machines, set goals and improve their muscular strength and endurance.  State of California uses our 7th graders to officially test using the Fitnessgram and compares our results throughout the state.   We test at each grade level to track progress and proficiency.
